The Chilli Red Oscar is a striking selective breed of Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus) displaying deep crimson-red patterning across the body and fins. A quintessential large cichlid for hobbyists, Oscars are intelligent, personable fish that recognize their keepers and respond to hand-feeding. Grows to 12-14 inches. Requires 75+ gallons, heavy filtration, and weekly water changes to handle their significant bioload. Feed quality large cichlid pellets, frozen meaty foods, and earthworms. Avoid keeping with small fish. A classic monster fish room centerpiece.
