Cichlid - Satanoperca pappaterra
Satanoperca pappaterra is a large and beautifully marked eartheater cichlid from the Parana and Paraguay river basins in South America. Often called the Eartheater Demon by hobbyists, it reaches 12 inches and displays a spectacular pattern of red dots and iridescent scaling over a warm brown-olive body. Like all Satanoperca, it requires fine sand for its natural sifting behavior and is best kept in groups in large, well-decorated South American biotope setups. Peaceful with other large, calm fish. Prefers soft, warm water (78-84F, pH 5.5-7.0). A rare find in the U.S. hobby.
