The Red Shoulder Severum (Heros efasciatus) from Peru is a stunning wild-caught specimen displaying the rich red-orange shoulder flush and vivid green-gold body patterning that captive-bred fish rarely achieve. Wild Peru fish are particularly prized for their vibrant natural coloration and robust body condition. Grows to 10-12 inches. A relatively peaceful large cichlid, tolerant of other similarly sized South American species in 75+ gallon setups. Omnivorous; quality pellets, frozen foods, and plant matter. Prefers slightly soft, acidic to neutral water (78-82F, pH 6.0-7.5). At XL 5-6 inches these are well-developed, near-adult specimens.
