Cichlid - Paraneetroplus gibbiceps
Paraneetroplus gibbiceps is a large, impressive herbivorous cichlid from Central America, known for its deep laterally compressed body, prominent nuchal hump in mature males, and bold barring pattern. Grows to 14-16 inches. Despite its size it is primarily an algae and plant-matter grazer, requiring a diet rich in spirulina, blanched vegetables, and quality herbivore pellets. Moderately aggressive - best paired or kept with other robust similarly sized cichlids in 125+ gallon aquariums. Rarely offered in the hobby and highly desirable for Central American cichlid collectors. Water temp 74-80F, pH 7.0-8.0.
