Geophagus sveni is a gorgeous eartheater cichlid from the Tocantins River basin in Brazil, prized for its vivid blue-green and red facial markings and the spectacular iridescent scaling that develops in mature specimens. Grows to 8-10 inches. A peaceful schooling cichlid that thrives in groups and is compatible with other large, calm South American fish. Like all eartheaters it requires fine sand substrate for its natural mouth-sifting behavior. Provide driftwood, gentle to moderate water flow, and a quality diet of pellets, small live or frozen foods, and vegetable matter. Water temp 76-82F, pH 6.0-7.5.
