Geophagus altifrons is a stunning eartheater cichlid from the Amazon basin, collected directly from the wild in South America. Wild-caught specimens display natural coloration and body condition that captive-bred fish rarely match - rich iridescent blue-green spangling on the cheeks and flanks, an elevated forehead, and the signature eartheater body profile. Grows to 10-12 inches. A relatively peaceful large cichlid ideal for Amazonian biotope setups with fine sand substrate (essential for sifting behavior), driftwood, and gentle to moderate flow. Best kept in groups of 4+. Water temp 78-84F, pH 5.5-7.0.
