The Electric Blue Carpintis (Herichthys carpintis) is one of the most visually stunning Texas and Northern Mexican cichlids, displaying an electric blue-green spangling across every scale that intensifies with age and condition. A medium-large cichlid reaching 10-12 inches, it combines bold color with moderate aggression - manageable for intermediate hobbyists in 75+ gallon aquariums. Territorial during spawning but otherwise tolerant of similarly sized tankmates. Omnivorous; responds well to quality cichlid pellets, frozen spirulina, and occasional meaty foods. Water temp 72-78F, pH 7.0-8.0.
